At Christ Agape, we believe that truth matters. In a world of conflicting voices, we hold to the historic Christian faith as revealed in Scripture. Below is a summary of what we believe.
1. The Bible
We believe the Bible – consisting of the Old and New Testaments – is the inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word of God. It is sufficient for faith, doctrine, and daily living (2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21).
2. The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – equal in power, glory, and love (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
3. God the Father
We believe God the Father is the Creator of heaven and earth. He is sovereign, holy, loving, and just. He hears our prayers and adopts all believers as His children (Genesis 1:1; Ephesians 1:3–6).
4. Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, was buried, rose again bodily on the third day, and ascended to the right hand of the Father. He is the only mediator between God and humanity (John 1:1, 14; Romans 5:8; 1 Timothy 2:5).
5. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He regenerates, indwells, seals, and empowers every believer for godly living and service. He gives spiritual gifts to the church for building up the body of Christ (John 16:7–11; Ephesians 1:13–14; 1 Corinthians 12:4–7).
6. Salvation
We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is a free gift of God, not based on human works. All who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ are born again, justified, and eternally secure (Ephesians 2:8–9; John 3:16; Romans 10:9–10).
7. The Church
We believe the universal church is the body of Christ, composed of all true believers. Local churches exist to worship God, preach the Word, administer baptism and communion, disciple believers, and proclaim the gospel to the world (Ephesians 4:4–6; Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 2:42).
8. Christian Living
We believe believers are called to live holy lives, love God and neighbour, speak the truth in love, and engage culture without compromising the gospel. We reject both legalism (adding requirements to Scripture) and license (ignoring biblical commands) (1 Peter 1:15–16; Galatians 5:13–14).
9. Marriage and Human Sexuality
We believe marriage is a covenant between one man and one woman, instituted by God as a picture of Christ and the church. We believe God created humans male and female, and that sexual intimacy is designed for marriage alone (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4–6; Hebrews 13:4).
10. The Return of Christ
We believe in the personal, bodily, and imminent return of Jesus Christ. He will judge the living and the dead, establish His eternal kingdom, and make all things new. This hope motivates us to live faithfully (Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Revelation 21:1–4).
A Note for Nigerian Readers
We write from a Nigerian perspective – grateful for our vibrant faith community, aware of our nation’s challenges, and committed to biblical truth over prosperity-gospel extremes or political partisanship. We are not perfect, but we strive to honour God in all we do.
